Collaborating across the world to strengthen local and global Jewish projects, ROI is a dynamic community engaged in changing the Jewish world. Now in its fourth year, ROI is a global community of young Jewish innovators that was created by Lynn Schusterman as a partnership between the Center for Leadership Initiatives and Taglit-Birthright Israel.
This year, the ROI Summit will be held from June 28th to July 2nd, 2009 in the Tel Aviv area of Israel. At the Summit, our ongoing activities will be highlighted by 120 of the brightest and most dynamic young minds from around the world – gathering to share ideas, enhance their skills and develop both collaborative and independent projects aimed at expanding the horizons of their Jewish communities. One of the community's most essential and invigorating aspects is how truly international it is: last year’s ROI Summit included participants from 30 different countries.
More information about eligibility, the Summit’s featured tracks and the application process can be found on our new website: www.roicommunity.org.
Suitable candidates should apply directly online at www.roicommunity.org . The month-long application period is now open and will continue through March 16, 2009. You may also refer suitable candidates by filling out a short referral form that appears on the homepage of the website.
Eligible candidates are Jewish Innovators who are:
- Between the ages of 22 and 34 at the time of the Summit.
- Developing or seeking to launch a Jewish initiative, or who are demonstrating excellence in pursuit of a global or civic program.
- Taglit-Birthright Israel alumni and staff (recommended, but not required).
- New to ROI and have never attended a previous ROI Summit.
- Eager to take an active role in ongoing activities of the ROI Community – including full participation in the 5-day ROI Summit in Israel this summer, and engaging with other Community members and staff after the summit has concluded and throughout the year.
The selection committee will seek individuals who demonstrate leadership and clarity of vision, as well as creativity. Consideration will also be given to the candidates' country of origin and suitability for one of the featured tracks that ROI will be focusing on this year. Applicants invited to the Summit will be asked to pay a highly subsidized participation fee.
