Monday 9th March
Tent and West London Collective promise a ‘Jam-packed Purim extravaganza complete with megillah reading, purimspiel, cabaret drag act and a wild party with a fancy dress/cross dressing theme.’ Sounds fun, but it’s not for the faint-hearted; the cabaret is only suitable for over 18s. Brace yourselves… Tickets are £15 on the door, £12 in advance and the fun starts at West London Synagogue at 6 pm with cabaret from 8.30. More details here.
Staying in the West End, the Centre for Jewish Life present a Black and White Purim Affair with hundreds of young singles, hot open buffet by Kaifeng and open bar by Liquid Chefs. Tickets are £20 and the schmoozing starts at 8 pm following megillah reading at 7.15. More details here.
Those lovely people at the Moishe House are offering the chance to choose your own Purim adventure with a spectacular and unpredictable night of performances, talks, encounters and interactive events. Of course it’s fancy dress with a strong emphasis on creativity. More details here.
The biggest event of the evening in terms of numbers is J Events’ annual Purim Party which this year takes place at Sway in central London. Over 1000 people are expected to turn up for free hamataschen, glowsticks, dancers, shot girls and guys and a percentage of the £15 ticket price will go to the Jewish News Israeli Ambulance Appeal. The Saatchi Shul will bring carnival to St. John’s Wood with samba & klezmer sounds from band K-Groove, Brazilian food & fabulous feathers & costumes, they say there’s no need to go anywhere but NW London for an exotic Latin party. More details here.
Thursday 12th March
Haven’t had enough? Still have the urge to dress up in fancy dress? Schmingle – schmooze and mingle – geddit? – are hosting a cartoon themed Purim party on Thursday night. Tickets are £10 with a donation to the Meir Panim charity helping poor Israeli families. More details here.
Saturday 14th March
Spiro Ark's Tzavta Purim party with an Israeli flavour takes place at brand new club Stanza including DJ and free access to the VIP room. Dress code is sexy smart with a mask. Age limit 21+ Tickets are £10 in advance or £15 on the door. More details here.
