Back from a summer hiatus, the Bendigamos Shiur and Shwarma launches straight into the High Holy Days spirit, with another thought provoking and stimulating discussion by Dr. Jeremy Schonfield. Jeremy Schonfield (PhD Cantab) lectures on liturgy and prayer in Oxford and London, and is author of 'Undercurrents of Jewish Prayer' (Littman Library of Jewish Civilization, 2006), which was a runner up for the Jewish National Book Award for 'Modern Jewish Thought'. He attends Bevis Marks where he occasionally leads services. He will lead a discussion on the topic of 'What does prayer think it is? The strange case of the Shema'. Same as before, places are limited to 25, and priority is given to previous attendees. Book at the Bendigamos website. Suggested donation £3.
