Founder and Executive Director of the Woolf Institute in Cambridge, Dr Kessler is well known for his writings and lectures on relations between Jews, Christians and Muslims. The Papal visit to Britain in September provides a timely opportunity to reflect on the contribution of the present Pope to Catholic-Jewish relations. Dr Kessler will consider whether the gains made in relations between Christians and Jews over several decades are in danger of being reversed under the papacy of Benedict XVI, or whether there is room for cautious optimism.

The lecture coincides with the launch of Dr Kessler’s new book, 'An Introduction to Jewish-Christian Relations' (Cambridge University Press, 2010), signed copies of which will be available to purchase on the evening.
