Some might be taken in by the folksy warmth of this lot but I'm not impressed. As a not particlularly rampant progressive Jew, I'm open to trying things that are a bit more traditional sometimes. But I want more. Why is it that in order to get a decent meal with some half-decent, vaguely well-dressed company do I have to hand over a wad of cash (before shabbat of course) to the haredim? Where are the glitzy central London Friday nights where I know I will actually be accepted unconditionally? Where can I find this? Someone said in another post something about this not being New York. No, it's not, but surely the progressive end of the Jewish market (and let's be honest, it is a market) can come up with something half as inspiring without being painfully earnest or unbearably geeky? |

When I moved to London from Manchester I was really struck by te fact that no one ever invited me to dinner for Friday night. i found this quite surprising compared with what I was used to. So I really like the Marriott Friday night dinners, I feel comfortable and know I'll meet someone interesting or bump into people I already know and the best thing about it is that it's really good value, loads to eat and drink, you def get your moneys worth |

| I found it a bit overwhelming there are so many people the first time I went on my own and it was a bit much but the next time two of us went and we met some nice people |

| you might meet some new people, in fact you def will. just not necessarily the right person. i found people to be in a much higher income brackett than me, and interested in pulling and clubbing - which I'm not. |

| The food is great and you get loads, there's also loads to drink and it can definitely be a good Friday night. Some of the girls a re a bit snobby as they seem to think every guy in the place wants to pull them but otherwise it's a good choice for Friday night dinner |
