JCLG Olympic Fellow
The Jewish Committee for the London Games (JCLG) is a committee set up by the London Jewish Forum (LJF), Maccabi GB, the UJIA along with Lord Janner in 2008 to ensure that the London’s Jewish community is fully engaged with the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. Jewish learning in London: to guide us through the month of Elul every day West London Synagogue will be posting a new passage on the synagogue website to help us spiritually prepare for the days which lie ahead. West London Synagogue is getting ready for the High Holy Days with 'Elul Thoughts'. Before playing sport a person will stretch and loosen up to be ready for the physical exertions which follow.

Before coming to Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur we also need to stretch and loosen up to be ready for the prayer and repentance which are required. And for these activities we have the 30 days of the month of Elul in which to prepare ourselves and be ready for the High Holy Days.

The Masorti Kollel, now in its second year, offers high level study for learners who want to grapple with Jewish texts in their original language. The goal of the Kollel is not to teach about Judaism, but for learners to become independent readers of the tradition.
